While many of us are decidedly more “right brain” or “left brain,” Rick demonstrates the rare ability to combine creativity with an equal dose of logic. A talented creative director, he also has the keen business acumen of a seasoned entrepreneur. Add to this the experience and insight of being a business owner since the age 15 and you have someone who is able to offer insights from every angle of building a business through marketing.

Rick co-founded JDAnthony in 2002 and serves as Principal & Creative Director. Rick was instrumental in making JDAnthony focus on becoming the interactive specialist for the medical industry – creating web-focused strategies, websites and hosted applications for medical service companies. In fact, Rick’s entire career has centered on medical marketing beginning with his first company, which specialized in developing brand identities and websites for medical practices.

Rick firmly believes that people learn through three main channels: books/academia, experience and travel. Therefore, Rick makes it a point to travel abroad at least once a year and has visited every continent but the Arctic. He especially likes to immerse himself in a different culture and come back to the States (and the agency) refreshed with new ideas and concepts.

Likewise, on a professional note – Rick attends conferences ranging from medical summits at the Cleveland Clinic to invitation-only events sponsored by the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). After attending a conference, Rick energizes the team with ways to implement the newest innovations, theories and best industry practices. JDAnthony’s clients are the first to benefit by the infusion of energy and passion that Rick brings back from his many travels. This is one of the ways that JDAnthony helps clients maintain their relevancy in the ever-changing landscape of medical and technological advances.

In 2006, Rick was named the Small Business Administration's Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the District of Pittsburgh and the State of Pennsylvania. While earning his degree from the University of Pittsburgh's College of Business Administration, Rick helped found the University of Pittsburgh's Entrepreneurs' Society. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Pittsburgh Young Professionals.
